Hi, I'm Patrick Hebert and CellCycle.ca is my project.

Hi, I’m Patrick Hebert and CellCycle.ca is my project.

Hello!  Welcome to CellCycle.ca!

My name is Patrick Hebert and I have been working in the e-recycling field since 2006.  With the help of the people in my community (Barrie, ON) we’ve diverted over 100,000 lbs of e-waste from Barrie Area landfills. In my on-going quest to fight against electronic scrap pollution, I recently launched CellCycle.ca – a project focused on diverting used cell phones from landfills AND improve our environment.  In addition to keeping hazardous electronic materials out of landfills, CellCycle plants a tree seedling for each phone recycled.

Mobile phones make it easy for everyone to stay in touch but what should you do with your old one?

Containing both useful resources and harmful substances, cellular phones are among the least recycled stream of electronic waste with estimates that over 21 MILLION Canadians subscribe to a cellular service while less than 12% of all retired cell phones are recycled. There are few options available to responsibly recycle your phone and those that do exist don’t always make it clear what happens after they take your mobile.  I’ve identified downstream partners that have values that are in line with the Basel Action Network’s eStewards program - companies who have committed to not exporting e-waste (including cell phones) to developing nations – ensuring that non-reusable cell phones are not dumped on developing nations. Reusable cell phones will be refurbished and put back to work.

By recycling your old cell phone with CellCycle.ca, you’re not only helping to divert harmful waste from the landfill, you’re also helping to improve our local air quality and fight climate change.

Please join me in this initiative by dropping off your cell phone at any one of our collection points.

If you wish to assist by hosting a collection event or in any other way, please feel free to contact me at any time.  By the same token, any suggestions you may have to improve service are more than welcome.

Thank you for your support,

Patrick Hebert
